일본 기상청에 따르면 일본 이시카와현 노토(能登) 지역에서 규모 7.6의 지진이 발생해 동해쪽을 접한 일본 북부 연안에는 쓰나미 경보도 발령됐다.

이번 지진으로 인해 이시카와현에서는 최대 진도 7의 흔들림이 감지됐다.
진도는 사람이 흔들림을 감지하지 못하고 지진계에만 기록되는 '0'부터 서 있기가 불가능한 '7'까지 10단계로 나뉜다.
지진은 일본 남쪽 도쿄의 고층 빌딩 안에서도 흔들림이 느껴질 정도다.
