The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Defective Examination Dispute Mediation Committee (DEM) has been operating since 2009 to resolve disputes related to defects, such as determining whether or not there are defects in apartments, quickly and fairly, and to prevent inconveniences for residents and the spread of damage.
On the 15th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport disclosed the status of defective housing cases filed with the DEM and the results of defect determinations for the second half of 2024 by major construction companies.
The construction company that received the most defect determinations from the DEM from March to August this year was Hyundai Engineering, with 118 detailed defect determinations. It was followed by Jaehyun Construction Industry with 92 cases, GV Construction with 80 cases, Lime Construction with 76 cases, and Samdo Construction with 71 cases.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also disclosed the ratio starting with this announcement, following the previous claim that "construction companies with a large supply volume are bound to have a large number of defects."
Most of the construction companies with high defect ratios in the past six months were small-scale construction companies with less than 50 households. Specifically, Samdo Construction (888%), Taegok Construction (657%), Woori PMC Construction (588%), Yumyeong Construction (400%), and Lime Construction (271.4%) were high in that order.
Based on the cumulative total for the past five years, Jiwoo Construction (2660%), Jaehyun Construction (2300%), Hyesung Construction (1300%), Yubaekun Construction (742%), and Jihyang Construction (732.6%) had high rates.
The number of defect dispute cases filed with the Hashimwi is continuously increasing, with 3027 cases filed in 2022, 3313 cases filed last year, and 3119 cases filed from January to August this year.
The 'defect review' that determines whether there is an actual defect was conducted a total of 12,771 cases from 2019 to August of this year, and the proportion of cases judged as actual defects was only 64%.
