Tattooist SHIRYU 'Kwon Seongbeom' Wins Two Awards at the World’s Leading Tattoo Convention, the New York Empire State Tattoo Expo

[글로벌에픽 황성수 CP] Tattoo artist SHIRYU, also known as Kwon Seongbeom, made a strong impression at the New York Empire State Tattoo Expo, one of the world’s most prestigious tattoo conventions, by winning two major awards. The event took place from May 9 to 11 in New York City.

Recognized globally as a premier gathering for tattoo professionals, the Expo features a wide array of events including seminars, workshops, and international competitions. This year, SHIRYU took home 1st Place in Best Asian Influenced Tattoo (2025) and 2nd Place in Best Chest or Back Piece (2025), marking a significant achievement that highlights the rising presence of Korean tattoo artists on the global stage.



Tattooist SHIRYU, a seasoned professional with 16 years of experience, recently closed his chapter in Korea and relocated to New York in April of this year to begin a new phase of his tattoo career. Known for his unique interpretation of the neo-Japanese style, SHIRYU has established a distinct artistic identity that continues to earn praise and inspire fellow tattoo artists around the world.

Reflecting on his recent success, SHIRYU said, “It was a meaningful experience to showcase my work at the New York Empire State Tattoo Expo and to receive two awards at such a prestigious event.” He added, “I plan to continue working primarily in New York, while also expanding my presence by participating in major tattoo conventions across the U.S. and internationally.”
